We spoke to students about the range of opportunities available at Birmingham Settlement and how these roles could help the students to develop important skills for when they graduate. The students we spoke to were very enthusiastic about finding relevant work experience, and were eager to learn how our flexible roles could enable them to gain the skills they were looking for. We will be following up with those students who enquired over the coming weeks to discuss how we can help them.

Despite historic links with the university it’s the first time we’ve been to this event and we were delighted with the warm welcome we received.  More than 60 students signed up to receive more info about the roles we have.  Due to our range of activities we’re able to offer many volunteering opportunities that can be tailor made according to areas of interest and the time available to commit.

While we were at the Fair, we met lots other organisations – there are so many fantastic volunteering acitivities taking place that have a real impact on the lives of people living in Birmingham. Rob Netherway, our Volunteer Co-ordinator said “it’s really impressive to see how many students want to add value to their local community. We’re also very excited by how keen they are  to  get involved with fundraising – we’re hoping to see lots of people sitting in cold bean baths in aid of our work!” Rob is going to be getting out and about at various events so look out for what he’s got to say about volunteering activities at Birmingham Settlement.
