The Centre For The Aston Family aims to address the health, education, training and family support needs of people living in the Aston area of Birmingham. It offers a host of activities to the local community including making its rooms available to be rented for meetings, workshops, conferences and other events. Activities take place regularly so please get in touch to find out what’s going on. The Centre is open to all Monday-Friday and currently provides the base for the Ageing Well Programme and Children’s Services.
CitySave Credit Union
CitySave is a non profit financial co-operative that provides financial services for individuals. CitySave’s Outreach Officer is based at the Centre from 9am-12pm Monday to Friday. She can help with access to affordable loans, savings plans and financial capability and budgeting advice.
Job Club
We run a job club every Tuesday between 1pm-3pm at the Centre for the Aston Family. Job Club receives referrals from Job Centre Plus but anyone can stop by to receive guidance. The aim of the sessions is to build confidence and skills to help people be work ready. Some of the activities taking place include basic IT skills, job search, mock interviews and CV building.
Room Hire
The Centre for the Aston Family rooms can be hired out for events and functions. As a community building we do not generate profit from the charges made and all income is used to cover running costs of the Centre. As a result our prices are extremely competitive. We can accommodate a range of activities for varying volumes from offices to conduct interviews to larger meeting spaces for workshops and conferences.
Cyber Suite
The Centre has a suite of pcs that are available to use free of charge as well as printing facilities available for a small donation. All individuals accessing the Cyber Suite are asked to become members and must present their photo ID card in order to access the computers. We do this to ensure the safety and security of all people using the Centre.
Sister2Sister
Sister2Sister is a community organisation based at the Centre. They offer all women opportunities to learn and explore through spiritual, intellectual, social and sports activities. This includes ensuring that women have the skills to be active in their community, to participate in the organisation’s management committee and to make skills and resources available that secures their support.
